Lowlands.nl: Keeswaardige Feestjes

Post van Kees van Hondt! De ceremoniemeester van polka, hoempa en tralala stuurde Lowlands een brief met daarin de zes meest Keeswaardige feestjes. Lekker hossen op niveau!

Het doet mij deugd dat LL een zestal Keeswaardige orkesten heeft ingehuurd. Het feest begint met Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. De popgeschiedenis kent tal van composities die door een wrede speling van het lot in een dubieus daglicht staan. Me First heeft zich het edele doel gesteld de zwaarst getroffenen van een opbeurend arrangement te voorzien.

Daarna de Nederlandse debuut-show van het Russische Otava Yo. Wereldberoemd geworden door de Ieval Polkka, in de volksmond bekend als het wijsje van het Preimeisje. De roddelpers bericht louter over hun traditioneel witte ondergoed, mij valt het zwaar een andere band te noemen die de kazoo zo vindingrijk bespeelt.

Vervolgens het Zweedse Movits! De combinatie hiphop/swing leidt niet per definitie tot feestelijkheden. De onwaarschijnlijk enthousiaste wijze waarop deze jongens zich van hun taak kwijten bewijst echter dat het wel degelijk tot de mogelijkheden behoort.

Op zaterdag bijtijds uit de veren om de bruisende mestizo van La Pegatina te ondergaan. Speciaal voor Lowlands heeft de band een Nederlandse cover ingestudeerd. Bij het ter persen gaan van dit periodiek was het nog onbekend of de keus op Het Land van Maas en Waal of op Paard in de Gang is gevallen. En juist die onzekerheid illustreert dat deze band uit het juiste feesthout is gesneden.

Op zondag zijn Les Ramoneurs de Menhirs een zware aanrader. Keltische muziek kent grofweg drie varianten waarvan de Schots/Ierse de bekendste is. De Frans/Bretonse Kelt herkent men aan de bombarde. Een blaasinstrument met een hoge attentiewaarde wat bij de Ramoneurs wordt gekoppeld aan een scheurende punkgitaar en een drumcomputer. In Bretagne noemt men dit Fest Noz. Het zou fantastisch zijn om de laatste nacht in te gaan met een illegaal optreden van Mooi Wark. Of dit tot de mogelijkheden behoort zal de tijd uitwijzen maar hoe dan ook hoop ik velen van jullie zondagnacht te mogen begroeten in de Grolsch-tent.
